Albert Heinrich Pfeiffer was my Great Grandfather, and the first in our family to own his own vineyard in the riverland region of South Australia. Albert would work his vineyard in bare feet with his faithful Clydesdale, Bloss towing a plough up each row; talking to each vine along the way and encouraging them to grow and produce quality fruit each year. Albert would sell his fruit each year to local wineries, providing valuable income for the family to survive and prosper.
It seems that Albert’s ideals of being in touch with his vineyard and producing the best fruit possible each year have worked its way down through the generations, and has strongly influenced the way that I now run our vineyards here at Whistler. Spending time in the vineyard is an essential part of making great wine, and I am extremely fortunate to be able to both manage our vineyards as well as make our wines. I hope our passion and hard work as a family results in quality wines that you can enjoy long into the future!
